Over the next couple days we will be focusin on some advanced statistics as they relate to certain fantasy football positions. This is to help both you and us acquire a better understanding of where players stand heading into the final week or two of the fantasy playoffs.
Today's article is going to focus on fantasy points per touch among top quarterbacks in the NFL. The formula is simple:
(Points/Touches).
At the very least, this should help you decide which quarterbacks are worth a possible start if you are in a pickle heading into the final two weeks of the season.
While the likes of Andrew Luck and Matt Ryan have had solid fantasy seasons, they just don't even come close to comparing to these eight quarterbacks listed above as it relates to production per touch. Of course a vast majority of the top quarterbacks in this category are able to take off and run the ball. After all, Colin Kaepernick, Robert Griffin III, Cam Newton and Russell Wilson have combined for over 2,000 rushing yards this season.
You won't be surprised to learn that the worst regular starting quarterback in this category is recently benched Mark Sanchez at 0.260 points per touch. For his part, Eli Manning ranks 27th on the list at 0.393 points per touch.
The best backup quarterback in this category is Alex Smith, who was benched in lieu of Kaepernick, at .050 points per touch. In fact, that ranks him ahead of Drew Brees. However, this list includes those actually starting for their team right now.
Of course this might not mean a whole heck of a lot moving forward this season, but it is definitely something to keep an eye on moving forward. At the very least, it's interesting.
