NFL Playoffs: Statistical Predictions for Matt Schaub and Andy Dalton

If you are still in a fantasy football league or joined up one of the countless playoff contests running around the Internet, you are probably lacking some real good advice about where your players currently stand. On the flip side, it is always fun to predict what certain players are going to do during the playoffs.

eDraft will focus on quarterback matchups as they relate to each of the four playoff games this weekend. This article will take a look at Matt Schaub of the Houston Texans and Andy Dalton of the Cincinnati Bengals.

Matt Schaub, Quarterback, Houston Texans

Schaub has thrown a total of one touchdown in his last four games. Needless to say, Houston is going to need him to step it up a great deal if it is going to defeat Cincinnati. The bad news for Schaub is that he is going up against a Bengals' defense that ranks seventh in the NFL against the pass and has yielded a total of 16 touchdowns through the air this season.

The good news for Houston is that Schaub performs much better at home than he does on the road. He threw 13 touchdowns compared to four interceptions and compiled a 101.7 rating at Reliant Stadium during the regular season.

Regular Season Average: 22/34, 251 yards, 1.4 touchdowns, 0.8 interceptions.

Projected Stats: 19/29, 225 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

Andy Dalton, Quarterback, Cincinnati Bengals

Much like Schaub, Dalton is struggling a great deal recently. He threw four touchdowns compared to five interceptions in his last five regular season starts. Equally as disturbing for Bengals' fans, Dalton has been downright anemic on third down. Only Ryan Tannehill ranks worst among regular starters in first-down percentage this season. The fact that Brandon Weeden, Michael Vick and Carson Palmer rank ahead of Dalton in this category isn't good.

In addition, Dalton's quarterback rating drops from 91.2 at home to 83.9 on the road, where he throws one intereception per 27 passes. Dalton is 0-2 with one touchdown and four interceptions in two career starts against the Texans.

Regular Season Average: 21/32, 229 yards, 1.7 touchdowns and one interception.

Projected Stats: 20/34, 240 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.
