College Football Recruiting Update

Now that the actual football season is over, the college football world moves into recruiting, as National Signing Day is less than one month away. This time of the year is nearly as important as the season itself. This is when teams lay the foundation that they will build upon for the next four years and further out.

Here is a look at some of the recruits who have made their decision in recent weeks, and those to follow who will be battled over heavily as we head towards National Signing Day.

Recent Commitments/Decommittments

Jalen Tabor (Cornerback)- During the Under Armour All-American Game, Tabor committed to the University of Arizona. However, this past week, flipped his commitment to Florida. Tabor helps load a nice recruiting class for the Gators, who had a down season. Along with Tabor, Florida has received commitments from offensive tackle David Sharpe and quarterback Will Grier. He also helps soften the blow of two commits who flipped to in-state rivals….

Dalvin Cook (Running Back) and Ermon Lane (Wide Receiver)- Cook and Lane have been viewed as a package all recruiting season. Both were Gator commits, but recently Cook flipped his commitment to Florida State. Lane has since also decommitted from Florida, which was expected after Cook’s change, but Lane has yet to officially announce where he will be playing next year. The obvious favorites are the Seminoles.

University of Texas: The Longhorns lost three defensive tackle recruits over the weekend after the Longhorns hired Charlie Strong and Vance Bedford from the University of Louisville. However, apparently the tackles weren’t impressed and decommitted, including four-star defensive tackle Trey Lealaimatafeo.

Upcoming Commits

Rashaan Evans (Linebacker)- Evans has cut his list down to three: UCLA, Auburn and Alabama. UCLA has already stacked up a nice linebacker class, but Evans would be a huge catch, right out of the heart of SEC-country. However, Evans is from Auburn, Alabama, so it’s safe to assume he will either be a Tiger or a member of the Crimson Tide next season.

Derrell Scott (Running Back)- Scott, a four star back has announced that he will make his decision  on January 27th. Right now, it seems like his top three choices are South Carolina, Tennessee and Florida.
