Top 5 Performances In College Football Thus Far

Quarterback, Kenny Hill, Texas A&M Vs South Carolina

Stat line: 44-of-60 passing, 511 yards, 3TD, 0INT.

Johnny who? Hill’s 511 passing yards broke Manziel’s single-game A&M passing record. Throughout the contest he kept his eyes on the prize and made play after play with his arm in a spectacular performance.

All this came on the road to a Gamecock side ranked No.9. The South Carolina outfit may not be what they used to be but they are laden with athletes who will not get beaten up like that again this season.

Running back, Todd Gurley, Georgia Vs Clemson

Stat line: 15 carries, 198 yards, 3TD; 100-yard kick-off return TD.

Gurley is by far and away the best running back in college football,  and his performance against the Tigers’ front seven highlighted that.

After his first run went for minus one yard,  the next 14 came just one short of a double-hundred.  He showed all of his qualities with his runs featuring strength,  agility and speed. Gurley is your Heisman front runner.

Quarterback, Marcus Mariota, Oregon Vs Michigan State

State line: 17-of-28 passing, 3TD; nine carries, 42 yards.

There are other quarterbacks not on this list who put up bigger numbers through the first two weeks,  however,  none of them have done it against such a renowned defense as Michigan State’s.

Mariota became the first quarterback to pass for more than 300 yards against the Spartans since 2010 and coming from behind to run away with the win showed his true mettle.

Defensive end, Emmanuel Ogbah, Oklahoma State Vs Florida State

State line: 6 tackles (2 TFL), 2 sacks, 2 pass break-ups.

Ogbah had the performance of his life against a Florida State offensive line that was not only the best in the country last season but returner four starters.

He continually had his way with the experienced line and got to Jameis Winston on a number of occasions.  Furthermore,  he should have recorded an interception with one of his pass break-ups.

Defensive tackle, Danny Shelton, Washington Vs Eastern Washington

Stat line: 12 tackle (4.5 TFL), 4 sacks.

Shelton logged 12 tackles for the second consecutive week.  Okay, Eastern Washington may not be fielding the greatest offensive line of all time,  but he has now tallied,  along with 24 tackles,  8 tackles for a loss and 6 sacks.
