Top Big XII Performances

Week 2 brought disappointment for a few Big XII teams. However, there were some bright spots.

Here are the top performers from the Big XII this past week.

J.W. Walsh- QB, Oklahoma State

Walsh dismantled UT- San Antonio’s secondary in his first full game as the starter for Oklahoma State, and led the team to a 42-7 lead before being pulled from the game. The Cowboys won 56-35 against the Roadrunners.

Game Stats: 24-27, 326 yards, 5 total TD’s

Bryce Petty- QB, Baylor

For the second game in a row, Petty did not need many pass attempts to surpass 300 yards through the air (24 last week, 16 this week). Petty played with efficiency and used his receivers’ speed to help make big plays. as he led the Bears to a 70-13 win over Buffalo.

Game Stats: 13-16, 338 yards, 2 TD’s

Lache Seastrunk- RB, Baylor

Seastrunk continues his Heisman Trophy campaign, running all over Khalil Mack and Buffalo. Through two games, he has 261 yards and five touchdowns, and is averaging 9.3 yards per carry.

Game Stats: 17 carries, 150 yards, 3 TD’s

Baker Mayfield- QB, Texas Tech

The walk-on redshirt freshman continues his hot start, torching Stephen F. Austin for 367 yards and three touchdowns, leading the Red Raiders to a 61-13 victory.

Game Stats: 21-30, 367 yards, 3 TD’s

Mike Davis- WR, Texas

Although Texas lost because of poor overall defense, especially in the run, Mike Davis played well, and was likely the only bright spot in a game where the Longhorns fell 50-21. Davis did a good job getting behind the defense and giving David Ash an open target.

Game Stats: 8 receptions, 114 yards, 2 TD’s
