Adam Scott Leads Again in Australian Open

Adam Scott is attempting to complete the Australian Grand Slam of golf by winning the Australian Open this week at Royal Sidney Golf Club.

Scott won the Australian PGA Championship three weeks ago and the Talisker Masters two weeks ago at Royal Melbourne.

He finished third in the individual portion of the World Cup of Golf last week and paired with the winner, Jason Day to capture the team part of the event for Australia.

The Australian Open is the third and final leg of the major tournaments held on the Australasian Tour. Scott previously won it in 2009, and he has won the Talisker Masters twice.

In addition to climbing to No. 2 in the world behind Tiger Woods, he became the first Australian to win the Masters in April. He also finished T-3 in the Open Championship and T-5 in the PGA Championship.

Scott continued his strong play and fired a first round 10-under par 62 over the par-72 Royal Sidney golf course on Thursday.

Starting off No. 10, he birdied his first six holes for a front side of 30. He birdied his final four holes (Nos. 6-9) on his back nine for the low round of the day.

If a tournament is designated a major, Adam Scott seems to automatically move to the top of the leaderboard.

Canadian Ryan Yip and American John Young Kim are tied for second and three shots back at seven-under par.

Rory McIlroy posted a three-under par 69 and is T-18 after the first 18 holes.

Jason Day and Kevin Streelman are T-23 at two-under par.
