Andrew Svoboda parred the first sudden-death playoff hole—the Par-5 18th—and won the Chiquita Classic, after closing with a two-under  70 to tie Will MacKenzie in regulation. The $1 million event—the second tournament in the four-event Web.com Tour Finals series—took place at River Run Country Club in Davidson, N.C.

He began the final round tied for the lead with John Peterson, and after carding four birdies and two bogeys Sunday, he finished at 12-under 276 to tie MacKenzie, who closed with a 67. On the first extra hole, Svoboda managed a par while MacKenzie couldn't match him after missing a five-foot par putt for a bogey and the loss.

Co-third round leader Peterson shot a 71 to finish a stroke back at 277 with Ben Martin (68), while another stroke back was Japan's Ryo Ishikawa, who matched Sunday's low round of 6-under 66.

Another stroke back in sixth at 279 were Ricky Barnes (70) and Troy Matteson (72). Tied for eighth at 280 were Americans Heath Slocum (66), Brice Garnett (70), Vaughn Taylor (71) and Peter Malnati (73), along with Colombia's Camilo Benedetti (69) and England's Greg Owen (73).
