Bernhard Langer is in a very familiar position at the top of the Constellation Senior Players Championship. He fired a second round six-under-par 64 to add to his 65 in the first round and leads by two shots.
Langer made birdies at Nos. 2 and 8 on the front nine on Friday, but an eagle two on No. 7 was the highlight of his first nine holes. He added three more birdies and a lone bogey on the back nine for his 64.
Langer has two wins and 10 top-10 finishes this year and leads the Champions Tour money list, as well as, the Charles Schwab Cup.
Doug Garwood posted 68-64 for the first two rounds and is tied with Bill Glasson in second place at nine-under par.
Michael Allen, John Riegger, Mark McNulty and Joe Durant are one more shot back and tied at eight-under-par.
Defending champion Kenny Perry fired a seven-under-par 63 on Friday to get to seven-under-par for the tournament and is four shots behind Langer.
Perry fired 63-63-64 in the final three rounds last year at Fox Chapel Golf Club to win the Senior Players. Perry hit 11 fairways and 15 greens on Friday and appeared to be very comfortable on the course.
Perry trailed Langer last year in the Charles Schwab Cup race and is currently No. 4. He used victories in the Senior Players and the U.S. Senior Open to catch and surpass Langer for the $1 million bonus in 2013.
The Senior Players Championship is the first of three consecutive senior major championships. The U.S. Senior Open will be held in two weeks at Oak Tree in Edmond, Oklahoma and then the tour travels across the Atlantic Ocean for the Senior British Open in Wales.
