Charley Hull Is Youngest Ever LET Order of Merit Winner

Charley Hull continued to rack up youngest-ever awards this week, as she became the youngest-woman-ever winner of the Ladies European Tour’s (LET) Order of Merit.

She finished 10-under-par, nine shots behind the winner Shanshan Feng, at the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters last week. Although tied with Melissa Reid, Liz Young, Malene Jorgensen and Nicole Broch Larsen, she earned enough to win the money title.

Hull is 18 years old and with €263,096 in earnings on the LET bested Spain’s Gwladys Nocera by €30,000 in three less starts.

Hull joined the LET in 2013 at the age of 16, finished runner-up in her first five starts and was named the LET Rookie of the Year. She became the youngest participant ever in the Solheim Cup, when she was named a captain’s pick in 2013.

She helped the Europeans defeat the stronger American Team with a 2-1 record in her three matches. Hull took down Paula Creamer 5&4 in their singles match.

She collected her first LET win this season, two days prior to her 18th birthday, in March at the Lalla Meryem Cup over Nocera.

In seven starts on the LPGA Tour in 2014, she failed to earn sufficient prize money to become an LPGA Tour member, but finished inside the Top 45 in the LPGA Tour Qualifying Tournament and will play a full schedule in America next year.

Hull will definitely be a name to watch as she will join other teenage superstars, Minjee Lee, Lexi Thompson, Ariya Jutanugarn and Lydia Ko to battle the veterans on the LPGA Tour next season.
