Christie Kerr Wins The Lorena Ochoa Invitational in Mexico

Chrisite Kerr won her first event on the LPGA Tour for over two years. Her last win came at a major championship, the LPGA Championship in June, 2010.

This was Kerr’s 15th official LPGA Tour win and she has more than $14 million career earnings.

She fired 67-69-67-69 16-under par for the four rounds of the Lorena Ochoa Invitational to edge out Angela Stanford and third round leader, Inbee Park by a single shot.

The $200,000 first place check gives her slightly more than $800,000 for the season and moves her up to No. 15 on the LPGA Tour’s money list. She also moves up four spots to No. 11 on the Rolex Rankings.

In addition to this win she has had five other top-10 finishes on tour this year and appears to be peaking at just the right time for the season ending CME Group Titleholders.

The CME Group Titleholders offers a total purse of $1.5 million with $500,000 going to the winner.  Regular LPGA Tour stops normally pay 15% of the total purse to the winner. The CME Group Titleholders is unique and it is offers the second largest first place check in women’s golf.

Players must qualify by earning points throughout the year on the LPGA Tour to be invited to play in the CME Group Titleholders.

Only the top lady golfers for the year will be in the field this week at the Twin Eagles Club in Naples, Florida.
