Inbee Park Wins for the First Time in 2014 at the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic

Inbee Park won the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic on Sunday by three shots over Christie Kerr. Park began the day tied for second behind Shanshan Feng, but she fired a final round 10-under-par to secure the win.

Park captured the attention of the golf world last year by winning the first three major championships of the season and six LPGA Tour events.

She catapulted to the top of the Rolex Rankings and held the top spot for 59 weeks before Stacy Lewis regained the No. 1 rank last week.

Park’s win at the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic is a good sign for the defending U.S. Women’s Open Champion, who had not won on tour since last June.

Christie Kerr fired a final round eight-under-par 63, but could not catch the streaking Park.

Feng from China is only playing a limited schedule on the LPGA Tour this year, but posted a three-under-par 68 and finished solo third.

Belen Mozo and Lydia Ko finished tied for fourth at 16-under-par. This was Ko’s sixth top-10 finish this season and with $628,800 in earnings is No. 6 in the Race to the CME Globe.

World No. 1 Stacy Lewis, who is also leading the LPGA Tour money list, tied with Michelle Wie, No. 2 on the money list, at 15-under-par for sixth place.

Suzann Pettersen is beginning to show signs of regaining the top form that got her to No. 2 in the world before a back injury forced her to take some time off earlier this year. She finished tied for eighth with Chella Choi.

The women have next week off before heading to Pinehurst for the U.S. Women’s Open.
