PGA Tour Moves to AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am

The PGA Tour moves to the beautiful Monterey Peninsula for the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. This tournament is played over three exquisite golf courses, Spyglass Hill, Monterey Peninsula and historic Pebble Beach.

Pebble Beach plays the easiest of the three courses, but it is the most iconic. Several holes play along the water and breath-taking views are accorded the golfer, as well as, golf fans on every hole.

Amateur partners are paired with a professional for each of the first three rounds in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. This event started out as a delightful outing for Bing Crosby and a few of his show business buddies in 1937.

Because of Crosby and the unique format, it grew over the years and has become one of the most beloved golf tournaments on the PGA Tour schedule.

A-list celebrities, sports legends and Fortune 500 chief executives make this one of the top items on their individual bucket lists. Carmel resident and former mayor, Clint Eastwood has played in this tournament over the years along with other famous movie stars and television personalities. Actor/comedian Bill Murray, just another young cinderella golf story, is an annual participant.

What started out as the “Crosby Clambake” has become a $6.6 million event with $1.1 million going to the winner.

Brandt Snedeker won the 2013 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am after two consecutive runners-up at the Farmers Insurance Open and the Waste Management Phoenix Open last year.

He will defend his title against a very strong field that includes; Jim Furyk, Phil Mickelson, Graeme McDowell, Vijay Singh and Jordan Spieth.

Canadian Graham DeLaet is coming of two consecutive runners-up at the Farmers Insurance Open and Waste Management Phoenix Open this year. Can he duplicate Snedeker’s feat from last year?

Sit back and enjoy the wonderful views from around Pebble Beach and the Monterey Peninsula. It is always amusing to watch high-handicap amateurs, like yourself, try to navigate Pebble Beach’s small, but treacherous greens.

Golf Channel and CBS will partner to provide the television coverage. Jim Nantz, Sir Nick Faldo, Ian Baker-Finch, Peter Kostis, Gary McCord and the always irreverent David Feherty will be on hand to describe all the action.
