This will be the fourth installment of the Greenbrier Classic held at the famous West Virginia resort.

Stuart Appleby shot the fifth 59 in PGA Tour history to win the inaugural Greenbrier Classic in 2010. Scott Stallings got his first PGA Tour victory in a playoff over Bob Estes and Bill Haas to capture the 2011 title. Ted Potter Jr. also won in a playoff over Troy Kelly to capture his first tour win at the Greenbrier Classic last year.

The Greenbrier has a rich and storied history. It is a national historical landmark and has been providing first class service to its clientele since 1778. The resort sets on 10,000 acres in the majestic Allegheny Mountains.

The Old White Course at the Greenbrier is the oldest course played on the PGA Tour and is the only C.B. MacDonald design available for public play.

At 7,290 yards it plays to a par-70. The 156-man field will be playing for a total purse of $6.3 million with $1.1 going to the winner.

The field this week will include 13 of the Top-30 in the FedEx Cup standings.

Other notables making their first start in the Greenbrier Classic are Bubba Watson and Nick Watney.

Champions Tour players, Tom Watson and Kenny Perry are in the field at the Greenbrier this week.

Perry is coming off his first Champions Tour major victory at the Constellation Senior Players Championship last week.

World Golf Hall of Fame member, Tom Watson had eight career major titles and has added six Champions Tour majors to his resume’.

The Greenbrier Classic can be seen Thursday, July 4 and Friday, July 5 on the Golf Channel 3:00-6:00 PM ET. Golf Channel will also offer early round coverage on Saturday, July 6 and Sunday, July 7, 1:00-2:30 PM ET.

Jim Nantz and the CBS crew will provide live coverage on the weekend 3:00-6:00 PM ET both Saturday and Sunday.
