Sang-Moon Bae Wins First PGA Tour Title of 2014-15 at Frys.com Open

Sang-Moon Bae collected his second PGA Tour win Sunday in the first event of the 2014-15 wrap-around season at the Frys.com Open.

Johnny Miller redesigned the course, owns the facility and served as tournament host last week at Silverado Resort. It sits in the Napa Valley and fine wine flowed all week as players and fans enjoyed the surroundings.

After being the leading money winner on the Japan Golf Tour in 2011, he qualified for the 2012 PGA Tour via Q-School. Bae won the 2013 HP Byron Nelson Championship, but did not post a top-10 in 2014 and finished just inside the Top-125 at No. 122.

Bae began the final round with the lead, but struggled on Sunday to a one-over-par 73. It was still good enough for a two-shot win over Aussie Steven Bowditch.

He joins, K.J. Choi and Y.E. Yang, as just the third Korean-born player to win on the PGA Tour. The win also makes him a prime candidate for the 2015 International Presidents Cup team. He would be a very popular addition as it will be held in Korea in October.

Bryce Molder, Hideki Matsuyama, Retief Goosen, Hunter Mahan and Martin Laird all tied for third at 12-under-par.

Brooks Koepka, who played his way onto the PGA Tour via the European Tour, posted a final round even-par 72 and fell five spots to finish T-8 with Hudson Swofford, Jon Curren and Robert Allenby.

After a poor first round, Lee Westwood shot three rounds in the 60’s to finish at 10-under-par and T-12.

The tour next moves to TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas for the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.
