Seung-Yul Noh is just 22-years-old and has been a professional golfer for seven years. He earned his first PGA Tour victory at the Zurich Classic in New Orleans over the weekend.
Noh joins other talented young players, Patrick Reed, Harris English and Russell Henley to win on tour this season.
Noh shot four rounds of 65-68-65-71 to finish at 19-under par and two shots clear of Andrew Svoboda and Robert Streb.
Noh originally earned his PGA Tour card by finishing third in the 2011 Q-School. He ended 2012 at No. 49 in the FedEx Cup to retain his card for 2013. He struggled last year on tour, finishing No. 159 and out of the FedEx Cup playoffs.
He earned his playing privileges for 2014 by competing in the Web.com Finals and winning in Columbus, Ohio at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship.
The first-place check of $1.224 million moves Noh up 55 spots to No. 16 in the FedEx Cup points list. He secures his tour card for two years and earn an invitation to the 2015 Masters.
Svoboda earned his 2014 PGA Tour card via the Web.com Tour last year and had his best career finish tied with Robert Streb for runner-up. Streb made it to the PGA Tour from the 2012 Web.com Tour.
Keegan Bradley was in contention on Sunday, but a final round 75 moved him down to T-8.
Justin Rose may finally be rounding into shape as the summer looms near. He posted 71-67-69-68 for 13-under par and T-8
Tommy ‘Two Gloves’ Gainey joined Rose and Bradley at 13-under par and T-8.
Ben Martin fired a first-round 10-under par 62 and held the lead after 36 holes at 15-under par. He struggled on the weekend, however with rounds of 73-75 to finish T-15.
Ernie Els and Rickie Fowler failed to make the 36-hole cut.
