Storylines for Fubon LPGA Taiwan Championship

The LPGA Tour moves from mainland China to Taiwan this week for the Fubon LPGA Taiwan Championship.

Suzann Pettersen is the defending champion and is still looking for her first win in 2014. She was one of the “Big 3” last year winning four titles and finishing inside the top-10 on 15 occasions. She won over $2.2 million and finished No. 2 on the LPGA Tour money list.

Back injury kept her off the tour for several weeks this year and she has not fully regained the form she showed last year. She has zero wins in 21 starts, but does has 10 top-10 finishes. Pettersen is still ranked No. 4 in the world, but with $900,000 in earnings, she is No. 10 on the money list.

This may just be her week, she has very positive memories of the Miramar Golf Country Club. Pettersen has won this event the last two consecutive years and is looking for a three-peat.

Inbee Park will make her first start at the LPGA Taiwan Championship after regaining the No. 1 Rolex Ranking. No. 2 Stacy Lewis is also in the field after some well-deserved rest and will be looking to reclaim her No. 1 ranking.

Youngsters have dominated the LPGA Tour this season and No. 3 ranked Lydia Ko will also play in Taiwan. Ko already has two wins this year and is looking to move up the money list to compete for the $1 million bonus that goes to the winner of the Race to the CME Globe.

Nine of the top-10 ranked women golfers in the world are in the field this week, as there are only three events remaining on the LPGA Tour schedule before the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship.
