AL Central - Projected Fantasy Studs

AL Central - Projected Fantasy Studs

After spending a numerous amount of years known as the weakest division in baseball, the American League Central finally broke out of its shell in 2013 due to surprise performances by the Cleveland Indians and Kansas City Royals. The Central should be even more competitive this year, as Cleveland and Kansas City will likely mature even more and push the Detroit Tigers for first place.

Here are five players - one from each AL Central team - that you should look at in your fantasy draft.

Chris Sale - Chicago White Sox

Sale could be considered a steal in some leagues, as his win total is projected to be fairly low due to the rebuilding White Sox team that he is part of. Yes, he may not get you as many wins as you would like, but his strikeout and ERA numbers should be fantastic.

He is the perfect add if you need to deepen your rotation.

Jason Kipnis - Cleveland Indians

Kipnis broke out in 2013 as one of the best second basemen in baseball. He showed that he can hit for average, hit for power AND steal bases. Pretty much the complete package.

Even better, the second base position is one of the thinnest positions in fantasy baseball, making Kipnis even more valuable. Take a long look at him if he is available in your draft. And (don't quote me on this) don't be surprised if he puts up better numbers than Robinson Cano.

Miguel Cabrera - Detroit Tigers

This is an obvious one, as Cabrera is the most feared hitter in the game. He is normally being picked behind Mike Trout due to his inability to steal many bases, but he should once again put up some of the best offensive numbers in the game.

While some are concerned that he will not hit as well without the protection of Prince Fielder in the lineup, but in reality it should not make much of a difference. Victor Martinez, who had an even better year than Fielder last year.

No matter who hits behind him, Cabrera will without a doubt be a huge asset to your fantasy team.

Greg Holland - Kansas City Royals

Closers are not exactly the sexiest picks in fantasy baseball drafts, but many teams are undecided on who they will trot out in the ninth inning. Kansas City, however, is not one of those teams.

Holland is one of the most underrated closers in baseball, and should be able to get you a good amount of saves on a Kansas City team that could rack up around 90 wins.

Joe Mauer - Minnesota Twins

Mauer is always one of the league's better hitters, but his numbers could improve even more this season since he is moving from catcher to first base. The move from a more grueling position to a more laid-back position could keep him in even better shape and he could even be able to increase his power numbers - his only weakness in past seasons.

While there is not much protection around Mauer in Minnesota's lineup, he is still one of the better players to take in your fantasy draft, especially if your league still lists him as a catcher.
