The Oakland Athletics will conclude the 2016 season in complete rebuild mode. Just one day after releasing veteran Billy Butler, the A's promoted two of their top prospects from Triple-A Nashville.
Oakland called up first baseman/outfielder Matt Olson as well as infielder Renato Nunez on Monday.
This comes on the heels of the team promoting both Ryon Healy and the recently acquired Jharel Cotton earlier in the season. Both have performed extremely well in limited playing time thus far.
Nunez, currently ranked by MLB.com as the A's fifth-best prospect, was hitting just .228 with 23 homers and 75 RBI in Triple-A at the time of the move.
Meanwhile, Olson ranks just inside Oakland's top-15 prospects. He was hitting .235 with 17 homers and 60 RBI at the time of the move.
