Biggest Fantasy Baseball Surprises of Week 20

It is almost time for the fantasy baseball playoffs as we are now in week 20 of the regular season. Things have slowly been shaping up and most people have a grasp on what teams will be in the playoffs and who won’t. Of course we still have a long ways to go until the wild card spots are decided. Since it is Sunday it is time to announce the surprise performances of the week.

Chris Carter,  Outfielder, Houston Astros

The big power hitter for the Astros had himself another power week at the plate. His batting average has always been very low but when he makes contact with the ball it is going to be go very far. In his past seven games he has hit four home runs while driving in nine men. His .269 batting average is lightyears ahead of his overall batting average which is .213. His two walks put his OBP to .310 but he also had nine strikeouts. Carter is only owned in about 20 percent of leagues and for good reason.

Grant Green,  Second Basemen, Los Angeles Angels

Since Howie Kendrick has been injured Green has stepped up in his absence. His .476 batting average is the sixth highest over the past seven games. He is not known to be a power guy as he failed to hit any home runs and only drove in one man. He did manage to score five runs though as he was on base a ton. He walked three times putting his OBP at .542. Green is owned in nearly no leagues but has played well considering.

Juan Francisco,  First Basemen, Milwaukee Brewers

Since the “roadrunner” was traded from Atlanta he has done pretty well for the Brewers. His three home runs is tied for fourth and he even hit for average at a .350 mark. This guy is the most recognizable name on this list and is owned in 10 percent of leagues. His season average of .250 is not horrible and he has also hit 18 home runs. Overall you probably don’t want this guy on your team unless you are in extreme need for a first basemen.
