Biggest Fantasy Baseball Surprises of Week 4

At this point in the season you can notice some things shaping up. Hitters are starting to get into their groove and pitchers are looking sharp. But it wouldn’t be the majors if there weren’t some surprise performances and week four is no different. Here is the biggest surprises of the week.

David Ortiz  Designated Hitter, Boston Red Sox

Fresh off a DL stint, Ortiz hasn’t missed a step. Over the past seven games he has accumulated six RBIs and two home runs. Although it has been a very small sample size, he is batting and impressive .500.  It isn’t like he has only batted 10 times and got five hits. He is 12 for 24 and is showing great plate discipline. This is one of the most impactful players on the Red Sox and he needs to continue doing what David Ortiz does and that is hit the ball. This may not be a surprise due to the fact that this is Ortiz but it is nice to see him playing well after an injury.

Kyle Seager  Third Basemen, Seattle Mariners

Maybe I am crazy with this pick but I did not expect Seager to be dominating as much as he is right now. In the past week, he has racked up three home runs, seven RBIs and a .500 batting average. He looks great at the plate with five walks in his last seven games. He’s batting an even .300 on the season and could become a staple in Seattle for a long time if he keeps this up. Along with him is the damage teammate, Dustin Ackley has done. Ackley has a ..444 average with eleven hits. Overall, the Mariners are struggling but at least they have a few bright spots here with some young hitters.

Ronald Belisario  Relief Pitcher, Los Angeles Dodgers

This is an interesting guy here. He is probably owned in zero percent of leagues but in the past week, has two wins and a 1.80 ERA. This is obviously not going to happen every week but the fact that he got two wins is big. If you; for some strange reason picked him up in your league this week, I applaud you. He has appeared in only five innings but his opponent batting average is an excellent .067.
