Biggest Fantasy Baseball Surprises of Week 15

We have officially reached the All Star break as games wrapped up Sunday! This is the time of year when baseball starts to get more intense by the day! I for one am extremely excited about the second half of baseball and for good reason. There is a ton of storylines but we have to talk about the final week of the first half before we do anything else. Week 15 as you know is the last week of baseball before the best players in the league take center stage. These three men will not be represented in the All Star game but they will be making an equally impressive list. The Travis Riechers list of the biggest surprises from the week in fantasy baseball. Let’s waste no more time.

Jonathan Lucroy,  Catcher, Milwaukee Brewers

Lucroy had a slow start to the season but has been turning it on as of late. He was tied for the most home runs in baseball this week at four. To go with his long balls he also drove in seven men while walking twice. His batting average for the season is .276 batting average is fourth best of all NL catchers. He is owned in 80 percent of leagues so if you are struggling at the catcher position you should pick this guy up. He is going to be one of the better catchers in the game for years to come. Clearly he is not on the level of a Buster Posey or Yadier Molina just yet but he is a great player. This doesn’t help your fantasy team at all but he is one of the best catchers in the game when it comes to catching and calling the game.

Eric Young,  Right Fielder, New York Mets

This speedy outfielder could find himself owned in a lot more than 25 percent of leagues if he keeps stealing the amount of bases that he has been. He led the league for the week with steals at four in his past six games. His speed is clearly true as he also had a triple to go with his nine hits. He batted .333 for the week and and walked five times putting his OBP at .438. If your fantasy team is producing little to no steals you should really go after this guy. Chances are that he is not even owned in your league so he would be an easy pick up. Keep your eye on this guy as you know how the old saying goes, “speed doesn’t slump”.

Rajai Davis,  Right Fielder, Toronto Blue Jays

Here we have another burner in Davis who plays outfield for the Blue Jays. His stock has slowly been rising for some weeks now as he is owned in nearly 90 percent of leagues. He only played in four games this week but the numbers he put up while in those games were admirable. He swiped three bases, hit one home run and drove in three men. He had two walks to put his OBP at .353. Young and Davis have a lot of similarities but Young is the faster fielder. Pick up Davis now if you can because he won’t be around much longer.
