As Alex Rodriguez continues to play the most surprising fantasy baseball performances also continues. This week is like no other except we now have only seven weeks left of regular season baseball. It is insane how fast the season has flown by and has been a great year. There will still be seven more weeks of the most surprising performances until the 2013 regular season has ended.
Justin Morneau, First Basemen, Minnesota Twins
In an otherwise disappointing season for Morneau week 18 was a different story. He hit five home runs in the past seven games and over the past ten games he has hit six home runs which is almost half of his total for the year (14). His batting average has still not been there for him as he only had a .258 mark but the power numbers are very helpful. He has been hitting the cover off the ball and pitchers are starting to take note of it. His 12 RBIs is a huge amount considering he is only owned in about 85 percent of leagues. He may have not won your league this week but he had to of helped some fantasy players pull out the W this week.
Josh Reddick, Outfielder, Oakland Athletics
One of the most disappointing hitters in baseball has been this man and he may be one of the most overrated players in baseball. For whatever reason a lot of people really like Reddick; most of it is due to his dedication to the game and how great he plays in the field but his bat has been poor. This week has been awesome for Reddick as he went on a power streak of unprecedented measures. On Friday night he hit three home runs, yes you read that right, three home runs. His Saturday night was equally impressive as he hit two more home runs; giving him five home runs over two games! This is tied for the most in baseball over the past week, with the man above. Sure he hasn’t had a great season but he had one hell of a week.
Oswaldo Arcia, Outfielder, Minnesota Twins
Here we have another Twin who had a great week. He hit four solo home runs over the past seven games. His batting average was very low this week at .207. He is only owned in two percent of leagues and will most likely never have the opportunity to be on this list again. His strikeout numbers were high at 12 but strikeouts don’t count in fantasy baseball. To the two percent of fantasy baseballers who picked up Arcia, congratulations; but don’t count on this guy saving your team whatsoever.
