Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman had to depart Wednesday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays with an injury wrist after being hit on the hand.
Initial x-rays on the injury came up non-conclusive, but there's definitely a chance this could be a long-term injury for Freeman. He will undergo both an MRI and a CT scan here soon to determine the severity of the injury. But it looked bad in real time.
If further tests show that Freeman has a fracture in the wrist, he will likely be sidelined 8-10 weeks.
Not only is this a major blow to the Braves, it could have wide-ranging fantasy ramifications. While Atlanta has struggled out of the gate this season, Freeman has been sensational. He's hitting .341 with a league-leading 14 homers and 25 RBI on the year.
We'll have further updates when they become available.
