After trying to manage outfielder Domingo Santana's shoulder soreness for more than a week with little success, the Milwaukee Brewers announced Friday that Santana has been placed on the 15-day disabled list and promoting Keon Broxton to take his place.
Santana was pegged as a breakout candidate heading into the 2016 season thanks to his monstrous power potential and his lineup and park opportunity in Milwaukee. But through 113 at bats this season, Santana has hit just three home runs with a .239 batting average and 45 strikeouts.
Part of the problem for Santana could be the shoulder soreness, cutting into his power and limiting the force behind his swings. Milwaukee did make the right decision to get him on the disabled list and give him the proper time to heal. With Santana out of the lineup, Broxton should slide in immediately as a starter, though should remain off the fantasy radar until he can prove he can handle major-league pitching.
