Control has been a bit of an issue for Syndergaard of late, but he is racking up the strikeouts, and getting wins as he is four and one in his last five starts. Syndergaard has 195 strikeouts this season in 167 innings, and he has been going deeper into games lately having thrown at least seven innings in three of his last four starts. Sure the Nationals have a decent offense, but Syndergaard has fared well against them in the past, holding them to a .246 team batting average, and just 13 RBI in 122 at bats. the Nat's have also struck out about 25 percent of the time when facing Syndergaard which sets him up for a big day on a slate that does not feature many strong pitching options.
