Today in fantasy baseball daily, we have a great number of games to analyze. For the first time of the year I am actually using ever player I selected in my good value players choices. There are a total of 16 games on the schedule. Starting at 12:05 PM Eastern Time we begin the day with the Oakland Athletics against the Minnesota Twins.
We bring you fantasy daily picks for FanDuel.com and if you haven’t signed up yet, be sure to follow this link http://eDraft.com/FanDuel/MLB to receive a 100% deposit bonus on your initial deposit. This is an amazing deal that you can’t miss so be sure to check it out and make yourself some extra cash. The cap for FanDuel is $35,000 with only one player at each position like a real MLB lineup (with the exception of outfielders where you can start any three players that are outfield eligible.)
The scoring system for FanDuel is as follows:
Hitters: Single = 1pt, Double = 2pts, Triple = 3pts, Homerun = 4pts, RBI = 1pt, Run = 1pt, Walk = 1pt,
Stolen Base = 2pts, Hit By Pitch = 1, Out (calculated as at bats - hits) = -.25pt
Pitchers: Win = 4pts, Earned Run = -1pt, Strike Out = 1pt, Innings Pitched = 1pt
Good Value Players
Pitcher
Wandy Rodriguez, Pirates, $5,100: Rodriguez saw his season debut against the same team he is pitching against today, the Chicago Cubs. He went six innings, striking out five and gave up five hits. Wandy struggled early, giving up a run in each of the first three innings, but settled down thereafter to notch a quality start. He's not the guy he used to be, especially in terms of strikeouts, but should remain a decent NL-only and deep-league starter. If the Pirates can give him some run support, you can expect a win and an extra four points added to your total score.
Catcher
Kurt Suzuki, Twins, $2,700: In the past five games, Suzuki has hit in six RBI’s, four walks, and is batting .388. He is the best value player at his position for how well he is performing recently. Suzuki matches up against Jesse Chavez of the Oakland Athletics who had a quality first outing throwing four strikeouts and one earned run in six innings. It was just the third start of Chavez's seven-year career as he transitions this year from bullpen to rotation.
First Base
Brandon Belt, Giants, $3,700: By no means is Belt a cheap option at $3,700 but is totally worth it with his red hot start of the season. His previous five games look like this: .318 batting average, three homeruns, five RBI’s, and five runs. He will matchup against the Diamondbacks pitcher Bronson Arroyo for the second time this season. Belt only went 1-for-5 in the first meeting on April 3rd but made that one hit count by belting a homerun.
Second Base
Ben Zobrist, Rays, $3,600: Zobrist hit his first home run of the season off of Jason Vargas in the ninth inning of Monday's 4-2 loss to the Royals. He singled earlier in the game, and he's now 8-for-28 (.286 BA) with a homer, two RBI, six runs, and five walks. Everything seems to be business as usual for Zobrist and now he sees Jeremy Guthrie who allowed four runs on seven hits and four walks with three strikeouts over 5.2 innings against the White Sox on Friday. Zobrist should be able to stay on his grind and snag a couple hits.
Third Base
Yangervis Solarte, Yankees, $3,000: Solarte followed up the three hits in his first start at the MLB level with a 2-for-5 performance and three RBI in the Yankees win over the Blue Jays on Friday night, 2-for-3 on Saturday, and 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run on Sunday. He is playing the infield since Kelly Johnson had to move to first after Mark Teixeira is back on the disabled list. Solarte is proving his worth for the Yankees and should continue that trend while facing the Orioles and Miguel Gonzalez who was rocked in his 3.1 innings pitched by letting up nine hits and seven earned runs.
Shortstop
Everth Cabrera, Padres, $3,100: In yesterday’s game against the Indians, Cabrera went 3-for-5 hitting three doubles. Unfortunately there was no one in scoring position for him to drive in. He is an up and down player so far this year and that will probably be that way all year. He has great speed and can steal a lot of bases. He hasn’t swiped one yet this year but I have a feeling he will move around the bags today against the Indians especially since he sees a right handed pitcher. If he reaches first base he will most likely be on second a couple pitches later.
Outfield
Michael Cuddyer, Rockies, $3,400: Cuddyer has at least one hit in every game so far this season. He has one double in the past three games and popped a homer as well on Tuesday. Today he sees a pitcher for the White Sox who was torn to pieces in his first start against the Royals. Erik Johnson gave up 10 hits and seven runs through 4.2 innings pitched. This is good news for Cuddyer and the Rockies as they should be able to beat the ball around a little bit and score some runs early and often.
My Lineup: $35,000 Cap
Pitcher – Wandy Rodriguez, Pirates, $5,100
Catcher – Kurt Suzuki, Twins, $2,700
First Base – Brandon Belt, Giants, $3,700
Second Base – Ben Zobrist, Rays, $3,600
Third Base – Yangervis Solarte, Yankees, $3,000
Shortstop – Everth Cabrera, Padres, $3,100
Outfield – Michael Cuddyer, Rockies, $3,400
Outfield – Mark Trumbo, Diamondbacks, $4,300: Excluding his 0-for-4 performance yesterday, Trumbo was on a four game homerun streak with seven RBI’s in that span. That’s some impressive play and that hitless game yesterday was hopefully just a blip in his hit streak. He sees pitcher Tim Lincecum who is a great strikeout pitcher but also gives up plenty of hits. He gave up eight hits and four runs in six innings in his first start against the Diamondbacks. Trumbo had a double and a homerun that game and I expect it to happen again.
Outfield – Carlos Gonzalez, Rockies, $5,500: With all the value picks I made, I was able to select the best hitting outfielder in the game as of right now. Gonzalez has recorded at least one hit in each game he played in with nine RBI’s and eight runs scored. I know he costs a lot of money but with the way he is performing he is almost a cannot miss player. If you are able to save some funds by making low value players, make sure you have Gonzalez on your squad.
