Fantasy Baseball Daily- April 22, 2014

We have an action packed night tonight in baseball.  Every team has a night game so there’s no rush to try and get a lineup in for the day games.  Hopefully everybody has had success using our daily lineups here on edraft.  Without further ado here are my value picks.

We bring you fantasy daily picks for FanDuel .com and if you haven’t signed up yet, be sure to follow this link http://eDraft.com/FanDuel/MLB to receive a 100% deposit bonus on your initial deposit. This is an amazing deal that you can’t miss so be sure to check it out and make yourself some extra cash. The cap for FanDuel is $35,000 with only one player at each position like a real MLB lineup (with the exception of outfielders where you can start any three players that are outfield eligible).

The scoring system for FanDuel is as follows:

Batters: Single = 1pt, Double = 2pts, Triple = 3pts, Homerun = 4pts, RBI = 1pt, Run = 1pt, Walk = 1pt,
Stolen Base = 2pts, Hit By Pitch = 1, Out (calculated as at bats - hits) = -.25pt
Pitchers: Win = 4pts, Earned Run = -1pt, Strike Out = 1pt, Innings Pitched = 1pt

Good Value Players

Pitcher

Yovani Gallardo, Brewers, $6,700: Gallardo is pitching like an ace so far in 2014.  The talent has always been there as he has always been a consistent strikeout pitcher, the problem is in recent years he has failed to be a consistent “pitcher”.  Gallardo has a more than favorable matchup against the weak hitting Padres for his start tonight.  Gallardo has gone at least six innings and has yet to give up more than two runs in any start this year.  Against the Padres, Gallardo may very well have his best start of the year making him a must start if you are looking for value out of the pitcher position.

Catcher

Buster Posey, Giants, $3,200: Posey is just too good of a hitter to not start here.  Posey is in a 2-28 slump which is bound to break soon for the former silver slugger.   Two nights ago he hit a homerun which was his fourth of the year to show that the power is still there.  Posey gets to hit tonight in the hitter friendly confines of Coors Field against a struggling Franklin Morales.  If ever there was a park designed to break a hitters slump it would be Coors field, as this should help get Posey back on track.

First Base

Brandon Belt, Giants, $3,000: Belt is off to a great start in 2014 and is well on his way to having a career year. Belt has a .310 batting average 11 RBI and runs and is tied for first in the majors with six homeruns. As long as Belt is hitting the ball this well he is worth starting night in and night out. Eventually he is going to cool off as he has an unsustainable HR to fly ball ratio of thirty percent, but until that number normalizes Belt will provide numbers greater than what he is valued at.  Luckily Belt is playing in Coors Field where any deep fly ball has a chance to be a homerun so his abnormally high fly ball to homerun ratio is happening at the right time.

Second Base

Howie Kendrick, Angels, $3,000: Kendrick is having a very nice, well rounded season in 2014.  Kendrick is batting for a good average right now as he is at .289 to go along with 10 runs and 12 RBI.  He has even provided a little bit of pop and speed with three steals and two homeruns which he hit during this six game hitting streak just a few nights ago.  As I wrote this Kendrick collected a hit in first at bat last night and if he collects one more hit that will be four multi hit games during his six game hitting streak.  For only $3,000 you can’t find a better value pick at the second base position.

Third Base

Kevin Kouzmanoff, Rangers, $3,300: Kouzmanoff is tearing the cover off the ball in the absence of Adrian Beltre.  He has hit in 11 of 12 games for the Rangers to accumulate an impressive .366 batting average to go along with seven runs, nine runs batted in and two homeruns.  Until Beltre comes back to the lineup on Friday, Kouzmanoff is worth starting.

Short Stop

Ian Desmond, Nationals, $3,000: Desmond has gotten off to a terrible start when you look at the batting average, but fortunately the power numbers have not faltered as a result of the low average.  Desmond hit his fourth homerun last night and now has 12 runs and 13 RBI on the season.  Desmond is showing some sign of life at the plate recently with a six game hitting streak, however not one of those games is a multi hit game.  For now Desmond is still a decent play while he’s on his hitting streak especially at the low price tag.

Outfield

Adam Jones, Orioles, $3,200: I am absolutely perplexed at how cheap Adam Jones is right now.  He is tearing the cover off the ball during this five game hitting streak which includes three multi hit games.  Now Jones squares off against R.A. Dickey who has not been the same pitcher since coming over to Toronto.  Dickey has been hit hard all but one start this year, with at least five earned runs in every start but one.  Jones should have no issues continuing crushing the ball as he is really rounding into form.
