My Value Plays

Pitcher
Clay Buchholz, Red Sox, $6,200:
While his first start since coming off of the disabled list wasn’t a pretty one he did show some positive signs in that outing.  His fastball managed to get up to 95 mph and he was using his changeup which is not something he used earlier in the season. Even though the final results are ugly as Buchholz allowed two homeruns and four runs all together he ended pitching into the eigth inning and retired 11 of the final 12 batters that he faced.  With that being said he has a good matchup against the Cubs to finish off the first half of the season and hopefully end the first half on a good note.

Catcher
Wilson Ramos, Nationals, $3,000:
Since coming off the disabled list Ramos has been very good.  He has hit in all four games while hitting one homerun and collecting two RBI to go along with two runs scored.  With the Nationals facing the Rockies this series, you can’t go wring with any of their batters against the Rockies awful pitching staff.

First Base
Mike Morse, Giants, $2,800:
Morse has really cooled off of late, especially in the power department having gone hitless in his last four games and only hitting two homeruns in the last 30 days.  The calendar now switches over to July which may bring some much needed luck to Morse’s bat.  He I still batting a respectable .275 and with his potential to go deep in any at bat it’s hard to argue against starting him with such a low salary cap number.

Second Base
Omar Infante, Royals, $3,100:
Infante has re-found his stroke at the plate having recorded hits in seven of his last eight games and has seven RBI in his last four games.  With the lost Ricky Nolasco on the mound for the Twins Infante could be in store for another big game with a couple more RBI.

Third Base
Casey McGehee, Marlins, $3,000:
McGehee has revived his career in Miami and has to be the leading candidate for comeback player of the year at this point in the season.  McGehee is batting .309 with 48 RBI this season.  He also has a seven game hitting streak that included a 5-13 with three RBI and a run scored against these same Phillies.

Short Stop
Ian Desmond, Nationals, $3,000:
Always a bit of a streaky hitter Desmond is hot at the plate right and is worth a look for your daily lineup.  His batting average still only sits at 2.35 on the season but his counting stats are good especially for the shortstop position.  Look for Desmond to stay locked in for at least one more series while he gets to face the pitching of the Colorado Rockies.

Outfield
Nick Markakis, Orioles, $3,200:
Markakis is on a run scoring binge right now with at least one run scored in five straight games, as well as a homerun and a stolen base in that same time frame.  Even when Markakis goes hitless he has found a way to score which means he is providing good value form the outfield spot right now.  Nick Martinez has struggled alls season long and I would expect more of the same from him against the powerful Orioles offense.
