Pitchers: Win = 4pts, Earned Run = -1pt, Strike Out = 1pt, Innings Pitched = 1pt
Pitcher
Chris Young, Mariners, $6,300: Young has really thrived this year with the move to Seattle. Spacious Safeco Field has really helped out Young and is a big reason why his ERA sits at 3.11 on the year. That coupled with the fact that he is doing a good job at limiting base runners at a 1.11 WHIP has led to this year being a success for the hurler. His next start is at home against the struggling Twins which shouldn’t make it too difficult for Young to extend his streak of allowing to runs or fewer to five consecutive starts.
Catcher
Christian Bethancourt, Braves, $2,700: Bethancourt has been very solid at the plate for the Braves since the injury to Evan Gattis. He is batting .292 with a couple of runs scored and a pair of RBI in seven games played. Jacob deGrom has been better of late for the Mets but the Braves are hot at the plate right now which means plenty of RBI opportunities for the young backstop.
First Base
Matt Adams, Cardinals, $3,200: Adams is red hot at the plate right now. He has at least one hit in 11 of his last 12 games played and is 6/9 his last two games with his tenth home run of the season, two runs scored and three RBI. There haven’t been a ton of opportunities to drive in runs in the struggling Cardinals lineup but with the return of Kolten Wong to the two hole in the order that may begin to change.
Second Base
Omar Infante, Royals, $3,100: Infante is smoking the ball right now, and is having an underrated season at the second base position where he ranks fourth in RBI with 44. He currently has a six game hitting streak that has three multi hit games in it and he has driven in ten runs over his last seven games. Now is the time to get him into your lineup while he is hot and still a cheap option at a weak position.
Third Base
Mike Moustakas, Royals, $3,100: While his overall numbers are unbearable to look at with an average under .200 he has actually been a very good hitter this last week. Over the last week Moustakas is batting .350 with two homeruns, five runs scored, and seven RBI. He is still a risky play as streaky as he is, and with his overall numbers being as bad as they are. However at only $3,100 he is great low risk high reward play for tonight’s games.
Short Stop
Jordy Mercer, Pirates, $3,000: Mercer always goes through stretches where he flashes some top hitting skills at the shortstop position. However he has never been able to keep it together for long stretches of time which limits Mercer to a guy only worth playing when he is on a hot streak. That time is now. He has a seven game hitting streak during which he is batting .611 with a pair of runs and five RBI. If you are looking for a value option at the shortstop position you could do a lot worse than starting Mercer.
Outfield
Marcell Ozuna, Marlins, $3,200: Ozuna is rocking a 13 game hitting streak right now during which he is tearing the cover off the ball and building onto what has become a breakout season for the young outfielder. His 14 homeruns are nice especially when you couple them along with a .275 average with 44 runs scored and 49 RBI. Ozuna has very good odds at extending his hitting streak as well as he gets to face the newly acquired Vidal Nuno who was extremely disappointing for the Yankees sporting a 5.42 ERA and 1.44 WHIP. Even if Ozuna doesn’t collect a hit off of Nuno he doesn’t go deep into games which opens the door to tee off against a very bad Diamondbacks bullpen.
