My Value Plays

Pitcher
Tanner Roark, Nationals, $6,600:
Roark has been exceptional for the Nationals this year in what was already a dominant pitching staff in Washington.  He hasn’t given up more than three runs since may 10th and has an ERA that is under two.  While the Astros have been better of late they still rank towards the bottom of every batting category.  He’s been shutting down offenses all season long and I expect more of the same from him tonight.

Catcher
Jesus Montero, Mariners, $2,700:
The former top prospect of the Yankees has had a rough go since getting traded to the Mariners.  Since getting called up a couple days ago Montero has a hit in both games he has played in.  Now he gets to see the lefty Eric Stults who has an ERA just south of 6 and a WHIP of 1.57.  For the price Montero is worth the risk against this subpar pitcher.

First Base
Mike Morse, Giants, $3,200:
Morse has been ripping the ball lately for the Giants.  He is batting .435 over his last six games, and even though John Danks has been excellent of late Morse owns left handed pitching and Danks still has an ERA over 4.

Second Base
Rougned Odor, Rangers, $2,400:
Odor is finally starting to find his grove at the plate and become a relevant fantasy second baseman.  His average is over .290 now with two homeruns and 14 RBI.  You won’t be able to find a cheaper player anywhere that can provide as much value as Odor has the potential to.

Third Base
Aramis Ramirez, Brewers, $2,900:
Ramirez has been on fire since coming off the disabled list.  He is on a six game hitting streak right now and gets to see Wade Miley who has looked lost on the mound all season long.  Ramirez should have no problem capitalizing on the subpar pitching of the Diamondbacks.

Short Stop
Starlin Castro, Cubs, $2,900:
Castro is having a monster season from the shortstop position.  He’s collected three hits in back to back games to bring the batting average nearly to .290 to go along with nine homeruns and over thirty runs and RBI.  Castro’s price does not reflect how great he has been of late and gets to face Jacob Turner and his 6.38 ERA.

Outfield
Brett Gardner, Yankees, $3,100:
Gardner has ten hits in his last 12 games that includes two homeruns.  Now he gets to face Marcus Stroman who is making only his fourth start since coming out of the bullpen.  His numbers this year are not pretty as he has a 5.18 ERA and a WHIP above 1.5.
