Fantasy Baseball Daily: May 22, 2014

Even thought we don’t have a full slate of games today we still have thirteen games being played so we are not missing out on too many players.  There area some very enticing, extremely cheap options at pitcher which will allow us to stack our lineup with the top hitters at each position. With that being said lets divulge into today’s games and build a lineup that will win us some money.

We bring you fantasy daily picks for FanDuel .com and if you haven’t signed up  yet, be sure to follow this link http://eDraft.com/FanDuel/MLB to receive a 100% deposit bonus on your initial deposit. This is an amazing deal that you can’t miss so be sure to check it out and make yourself some extra cash  . The cap for FanDuel is $35,000 with only one player at each position like a real MLB lineup (with the exception of outfielders where you can start any three players that are outfield eligible).

The scoring system for FanDuel  is as follows:

Hitters: Single = 1pt, Double = 2pts, Triple = 3pts, Homerun = 4pts, RBI  = 1pt, Run = 1pt, Walk = 1pt,
Stolen Base = 2pts, Hit By Pitch = 1, Out (calculated as at bats - hits) = -.25pt
Pitchers: Win = 4pts, Earned Run = -1pt, Strike Out = 1pt, Innings Pitched = 1pt

Good Value Players

Pitcher
Jake Arrieta, Cubs, $5,200:
Arrieta has not been able to go deep into a game yet this year with 5.1 innings pitched against the Cardinals in his first start of the season.  All of that could change today though with a game against the Padres and their anemic offense.  The Padres rank 30th in everything except for slugging percentage where they still only rank 29th.  With a  solid 9K/9 so far this season Arrieta should provide great value for daily players especially at only $5,200.

Catcher
Brian McCann, Yankees, $3,300:
2014 has not gone as planned offensively so far as planned for McCann.  He has hit safely now in eight of his last ten games and gets to face Hector Noesi who has been getting shelled all season long to a tune of a 7.31 ERA and a 1.73 WHIP.  Noesi has shown no signs of turning his season around and as a left handed hitter McCann has an even better advantage against this struggling right hander.

First Base
Matt Adams, Cardinals, $2,700:
Adams has been on a tear offensively for the last week.  He has multiple hits in three of his last five games and continues a series against the Diamondbacks.  When you are playing the Diamondbacks it doesn’t even matter who the opposing pitcher is as you know nine times out of ten he is going to struggle which bodes very well Adams.

Second Base
Anthony Rendon, Nationals, $3,000:
Rendon has really cooled off since having a blistering hot April.  Even thought he ahs struggled in most of May he has a matchup against Edinson Volquez and his 4.71 ERA.  With eight homeruns surrendered during his last four games Rendon makes for a great play today especially at such a low price.

Third Base
Matt Carpenter, Cardinals, $3,100:
Carpenter has not been the same batter from last season but he ahs still been a solid play as an infielder.  Batting atop the powerful Cardinals lineup has provided Carpenter with plenty of runs scored and a game against Wade Miley will help to get the batting average back up to a respectable level.

Short Stop
Ian Desmond, Nationals, $2,900:
One of the best hitting shortstops in the game, now gets to face one of the coldest starting pitchers in baseball in Edinson Volquez.  His power has been there all season and now due to injuries Desmond has moved to the middle of the lineup and the RBI are starting to come around now too.

Outfield
Starling Marte, Pirates, $3,200:
Marte is tearing the cover off of the ball right now.  He’s hit in thee of his last four games with two homeruns that have yielded five RBI and five runs scored.  Marte is one of the better power speed combo players in baseball as he’s shown with his 12 steals that he has also record on the year.  Batting fifth should yield it’s fair share of RBI chances as well as allowing Marte to run freely with the top batters having already come up to the plate.
