While using eDraft's fantasy baseball mock draft tool, here are the latest mock draft results. As more and more of these are done, the average draft positions of certain players are starting to settle, and what value in each round is becoming more evident. Here is the latest mock, with analysis for the first ten picks.
This team had pick eight and as every eDraft mock, the lineup and scoring are standard.
1. Hanley Ramirez, SS, Los Angeles Dodgers
Even with Adam Jones and Chris Davis on the block, HanRam was a must pick here. Shortstop talent is scarce, and outfield and first base are deep.
2. David Wright, 3B, New York Mets
The same strategy with Ramirez led to the Wright selection. Joey Votto was available, but with Wright being better at his position, he was the pick here.
3. Dustin Pedroia, 2B, Boston Red Sox
Pedroia has been one of the more consistent players in fantasy baseball, and in the third round he is a steal to lock up my second base position.
4. Chris Sale, SP, Chicago White Sox
It is not often that the first pitcher on a fantasy team can be a star in the fourth round. But with Sale, this accomplishes that. Getting at least one top SP in the first five rounds is critical.
5. Starling Marte, OF, Pittsburgh Pirates
Usually waiting on outfielders is a viable strategy, due to the depth of the position, but with Starling Marte there in the fifth, it was a np-brainer.
6. Matt Kemp, OF, Los Angeles Dodgers
See Marte, Starling. Kemp was an MVP candidate two years ago, and still has some play left in him. Pure value in the sixth round.
7. Jordan Zimmermann, SP, Washington Nationals
Zimmermann was the best pitcher on the board, and the best value in the seventh round. Easy selection.
8. Alex Gordon, OF, Kansas City Royals
Gordon can do a little bit of everything, and that helps anyone in fantasy baseball. In the eighth round there are not many players who could put up 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases.
9. Matt Moore, SP, Tampa Bay Rays
Matt Moore won 17 games last season, and is a perennial top tier starter in fantasy baseball. Getting him in the ninth round is highway robbery.
10. Kris Medlen, SP, Atlanta Braves
Kris Medlen is the ace in Atlanta, and will have every opportunity to win at least 15 games. Not to mention being able to face the Phillies, Mets, and Marlins at least 10 times this season. Medlen could be one of the best values in the tenth round.
