Despite a ton of interest in him on the open market, the Los Angeles Dodgers were able to re-sign All-Star closer Kenley Jansen to a five-year, $80 million contract on Monday.
This pretty much represents the status quo for the Dodgers, who have relied on Jansen to close out games in each of the past five seasons.
The 29-year-old veteran put up a 1.83 ERA and ridiculously low 0.67 WHIP while saving 47 games for the Dodgers a season ago. His presence on the back end of the bullpen will continue to play a huge role in the fantasy dominance we've seen from Clayton Kershaw.
After all, having an elite-level closer out there to back you up when you're not pitching complete games will simply add to your win total. The same can be said for the likes of Rich Hill and Kenta Maeda.
