Fantasy Look: Aaron Judge's Absolute Brilliance

New York Yankees rookie Aaron Judge is part of a larger lineup that has seen five different players hit seven-plus homers with four players having already crossed the 20-RBI plateau.

But it's what Judge is doing that has fans in the Bronx so excited. Through the first 42 games of the 2017 season, this 25-year-old power hitter has put up 15 homers to go with 30 homers and a total of 22 extra-base hits. He's scored a league-high 36 runs, is hitting .315 and boasts a tremendous .417 on-base percentage.

This has Judge on pace for 58 homers and 116 RBI. Yeah, that would go down as the greatest rookie season in the history of this old game.

It comes after a spring training in which some thought Judge would start the year down in Triple-A. Remember, here's a guy that posted a .175 average with a 50 percent strikeout rate in a short cup of team in New York last season. And despite a strong performance this spring, some figured he needed more seasoning.

Let's be clear here for a second. Judge is still having issues making contact. He's struck out 49 time in 143 at-bats. That equates to 189 Ks over the course of a 162-game slate. This needs to be curved if Judge expects to have sustained success at the Major League level.

Then again, consider this: Judge boasts an absurd .479 BABip on the season. This is a clear indication that when he puts the ball in play, good things happen. In fact, in at-bats where he does indeed put the ball in play, Judge is putting up an extra-base hit 23 percent of the time. That's a wow factor right there.

Then, consider this as well: the righty is hitting .327 with a .403 BABip against pitchers that toe that side of the rubber. He's also taken 79 percent of his at-bats against said pitchers.

Sure Judge's strikeout rate is alarming. But as long as he continues to dominate when he actually puts the ball in play, he's going to continue being a dominating fantasy force, both this season and in dyno leagues.
