Prior to suffering a high-ankle sprain last week, Seattle Mariners shortstop Jean Segura was enjoying his first season in the American League. Acquired from Arizona during the winter, Segura is hitting .341 with four homers, 20 RBI, 29 runs scored and a solid .391 OBP. 

While he's sitting on the shelf for at least the next three weeks, Segura himself has apparently received some great news. The Mariners have signed the former All-Star to a five-year contract that is said to be worth $70 million. 

Considering Segura's relative comfort level in the AL West and his success dating back to last season, this has to be considered a boon for those of you who own him in dynasty leagues. Remember, the 27-year-old infielder hit .319 with 20 homers and a league-leading 203 hits for Arizona last season.

Needless to say, giving him some security in the Pacific Northwest should help Segura continue to rake upon his return from the DL.
