Despite being arguably the best second baseman on the free agent market, the offseason didn't quite shake out in Howie Kendrick's way, with few teams making a major press for him towards the end of January. As a result, Kendrick has re-signed with the Dodgers on a two-year deal
Kendrick never found the price he wanted on the open market, ultimately deciding to take less and return to Los Angeles. Last season in 464 at-bats with the Dodgers, Kendrick held a .295/.336/.409 triple-slash line with nine home runs and 64 runs scored. He returns to a Dodgers' lineup that should be healthier in 2016 and was in need of an upgrade at second, making it an ideal spot for him production wise.
Los Angeles has to be happy with the deal, filling the gap at second base and now having Chase Utley and Enrique Hernandez on the bench as utility infielders and bats. While it's been a quiet offseason for the Dodgers in terms of superstar talent, they filled needs in the rotation and are better set for success in 2016.
