With Clayton Kershaw now shut down indefinitely with a back injury, the Los Angeles Dodgers are turning to teenage icon Julio Urias to take to the bump once again.
Urias, who has spent the past two weeks honing his skills in the Minors as a reliever, will get the call Thursday against the Washington Nationals.
Urias, 19, posted a 1-2 record with a 4.95 ERA and a 1.54 WHIP in eight starts with the Dodgers earlier in the year. Though, he did strikeout nearly 11 batters per nine innings during that span.
The flame-throwing Mexico native was expected to rejoin the Dodgers for the stretch run as a bullpen arm. However, Tuesday's news that Kershaw would not be returning from his injury changed this.
We absolutely love Urias' hard-throwing mentality and ability to K batters at an alarmingly high rate. Though, his inability to go deep into games makes the youngster irrelevant from a DFS perspective. It's also not known whether he will remain in this spot, especially with the trade deadline coming up on August 1st.
