It's been a while since Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander has seen a stretch of stellar performances that he is currently going through. 

Following dominating performance against the Los Angeles Angels that saw him take a no-hitter into the ninth inning, Verlander is among the hottest pitchers in the game.

Overall, the former Cy Young winner struck out nine while walking two and giving up one hit in a stellar 112-pitch complete game shutout. 

It was Verlander's fourth consecutive tremendous outing. 

Since giving up five runs and 10 hits in a loss to the Kansas City Royals early this month, Verlander has put up a 0.31 ERA and 0.69 WHIP with 31 strikeouts in 29 innings over his past four starts. Prior to these past four starts, the 32-year-old pitcher had put up a 5.05 ERA in his first nine starts this season. 

In terms of what this means for the Tigers, it's great to see Verlander back to his old stuff. While the team is completely out of the playoff race, the hope here is that Verlander figures into its future. 

In terms of DFS, Verlander is becoming an awesome late-season option. A four-start span pretty much gives us the sample size to trust running him out there on a consistent basis depending on specific matchups.
