In potentially the least-surprising news of the early spring, New York Mets manager Terry Collins announced on Thursday that Noah Syndergaard wil be the team's opening day starter. He gets the call over Matt Harvey who has proclaimed himself to be 100 percent healthy heading into the spring.
Syndergaard, 24, posted a 14-9 record with a 2.60 ERA and 1.15 WHIP en route to an All-Star appearance last season. The youngster was on an innings limit, which likely won't be the case in 2017.
He will start the Mets first regular season game, coming April 3rd against the division-rival Atlanta Braves.
