One of the bigger signings in free agency last season, Byung-Ho Park has now been sent down by the Minnesota Twins. The Twins bid $12.85 million to get exclusive negotiating rights to Park from Korea, then signed him to a four-year contract worth $12 million.
Park's first month in the majors started off fairly well as he hit six home runs in the first month, though it came with a low .227 batting average. Things got worse in May as he slashed just .205/.305/.373 with three home runs and 31 strikeouts. Major-league pitchers began to figure out how to get him out and limit his power, with it further on display in June as he hit just .136.
Miguel Sano was activated on took Park's place on the active roster, while Park heads to Rochester to try and iron things out and get comfortable at the plate again. Park will play every day in Rocjester, after he lost playing time in Minnesota, so hopefully the every day at bats can help him put it back together.
