MLB Players Who Could Be Traded Before July

Has your favorite player ever been traded before? I don’t know about you, but it has happened to me several times. From, Jeff Francoeur to Martin Prado my favorite players seem to always get the boot. If you are like me, I become completely devastated over my players disembarkment.

Unfortunately, things like this happen all the time. Baseball is not just a sport but a business and every year players will be traded. One of the reasons players get traded is due to disagreements between coach and player; IE, David Freese and Yunel Escobar.

This year will not be any different than years past. Therefore I will be forecasting what players will be getting traded and the potential teams they could end up with.

The first and most obvious player that comes to mind is Giancarlo Stanton. Last November the Miami Marlins decided that they wanted to trade all of their superstars, except Stanton. When the trade happened Stanton tweeted “Alright, I’m pissed off!!! Plain & Simple.” That right there should let you know that he is not happy with what the front office in Miami has been doing. Furthermore, a lot of speculation sees the Marlins slugger in a potential trade to the New York Mets. This Mets team has been struggling to find reliable outfielders and Stanton would be a perfect fit in New York. Although it is only April, look for this trade to potentially happen within the next month or so.

Everyone is well aware of what Chase Headley did in the second half of last season and the San Diego Padres have a knack for trading their players. Headley would be the perfect fit for the Toronto Blue Jays who pulled a 2012 Miami Marlins on everyone, trading for, and signing every big name available. This would allow Jose Bautista to stay in right field while putting a power hitter at first base. This trade would be a bit surprising but of all the teams in baseball, the Blue Jays seem like the right fit.

Finally, we have the biggest name of them all. Starlin Castro. Castro is a one-of-a-kind shortstops who doesn’t come around all that often. The Chicago Cubs on the other-hand are a failing franchise that needs new life. Let’s get real here for a minute, Castro is easily the best player on this team.  If they could trade him away and receive some high draft picks, this team could be decent within five years. I suspect Castro will be traded to the Diamondbacks around the all star break. They have an okay second basemen in Stephen Drew but if this D’Backs team wants to make any sort of run, they need to make a trade. Obviously, Castro won’t be playing second base but they have Prado, who can play damn near anywhere on the field.
