MLB Rumors for 11/13

The Major League Baseball hot stove is slowly getting underway. Most of the 2013 awards have been given out and we are now waiting on one of the most exciting parts of the offseason; trades! The rumors have been swirling through the internet and below is the most up to date rumors of the 2013 offseason.

The first trade rumor comes from the St. Louis Cardinals who have been actively seeking a lot of different players. One of the first names that has been brought up is Jed Lowrie. Lowrie is just one of many big names that the Cardinals are looking to acquire. The biggest name of them all is Colorado Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki. The Cardinals current shortstops are Daniel Descalso and Pete Kozma who are both not great options at the position. They also have Rafael Furcal but he is injured. This team would need to give up a whole lot to get Tulow and it would have to include a starting pitcher along with some position players.

The American League team that is looking to shop some pitchers is the Detroit Tigers. Rumors have been circulating that they would be willing to part ways with 21 game winner Max Scherzer who is also in the running for the Cy Young award. The Tigers figure that this is the absolute highest his stock will ever be so they hope to get a steal of players out of him.

One of the biggest names to be considered for a trade is superstar Matt Kemp. He had an amazing season in 2011 but has been riddled with the injury bug ever since. When healthy this guy has the ability to put up huge numbers. We’re talking 35 home runs, 140 RBIs, 40 stolen bases and at least a .300 batting average. The only problem is that he has not been able to stay on the field as he has only played in 179 games over the past two seasons. If the Dodgers are indeed shopping Kemp you can guarantee that a lot of teams will be jumping at the chance to get him.

The final potential trade that could go through is that of center fielder Denard Span. He is currently playing for the Washington Nationals and was signed by them last season. This potential trade comes as a surprise because most thought that Span would be the center fielder for the Nationals for the next couple of years. For whatever reason the Nationals seem unimpressed with what Span has done for them and the potential for him to be traded is definitely there.
