The National League Division Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves is now tied up at one game apiece. Game one was all Dodgers as Adrian Gonzalez went yard and won 6-1. Game two was decided by a Jason Heyward single that brought two in with Craig Kimbrel getting the four out save for a 4-3 win. The series will now go to Los Angeles for the next two. Game three will feature two young guns who have never pitched in the postseason before.
The Dodgers will have Hyun-Jin Ryu slanging the rock in his first career postseason appearance. There has been some speculation going around that his arm is not 100 percent but he claims that his arm is “fine”. In his first full regular season he went 14-8 with an even three ERA. His strikeout total was pretty impressive as well as he fanned 154 men over 192 innings pitched. Ryu faced the Braves in 2013 twice and did not receive a win or loss in both games with a 2.13 ERA. Freddie Freeman is chomping at the bit to face Ryu as he went three for four against him in his career.
The Braves will have the rookie Julio Teheran pitching on Sunday night. He has never faced the Dodgers which could play in his favor. He had a superb season going 14-8 with a 3.20 ERA and 170 strikeouts. The Dodgers have hardly ever faced Teheran as only two members of their team have ever faced him. He has been pitching better and better as the season has went along, the only question is can he handle the Hollywood lights?
As far as records for both teams the Atlanta Braves went 40-41 on the road while the Los Angeles Dodgers went 47-34. The game one win is proving to be very big as the Dodgers now control the home-field advantage, unless this goes to a game five. Sunday night is going to be a wild ride simply because the starting pitchers are so inexperienced. Anything can happen and all we can do now is wait.
