The Texas Rangers were hoping to get All-Star third baseman Adrian Beltre back in the mix on Sunday after he missed nearly the first full week of the season with a calf injury. 

Unfortunately, the team was not able to activate Beltre from the 10-day disables list, as he's not ready to return to action. 

Beltre, 38, was absolutely awesome for the Rangers last season, posting a .300 average with 32 homers and 104 RBI. There surely has to be comes concern about his ability to come back form this injury, considering the infielder's advanced age and the fact that it is a lower-body injury. 

With Beltre out of action, prized power hitter Joey Gallo has been getting the start at third in his stead. Continuing to struggle making contact, Gallo is hitting just .125 with one homer and two RBI in five games this season. He's also struck out eight times in 16 at-bats, bringing Gallo's K-rate in parts of three seasons to an absurd 49 percent.
