Top Los Angeles Dodgers pitching prospect Julio Urias made his Major League debut at just 19 years old on Friday against the New York Mets. It was a spot start for Alex Wood, who was scratched due to elbow stiffness.
As many would expect, the teenager struggled big time in his first start in the Majors. He pitched just 2.2 innings, yielding three runs on five hits with three strikeouts and four walks.
Our very own Matt Johnson covered that start in detail on Friday evening.
While Urias was immediately sent back to Triple-A after the game, he was once again called up to the big league club on Tuesday after Wood was placed on the disabled list.
It now looks like Urias might start Thursday against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.
Like we mentioned prior to Urias' initial start last week, there's very little to look at from a fantasy perspective here. Chicago is yielding the fewest fantasy points to starting pitchers on the season. That's not necessarily a recipe for success for a teenager making his second MLB start. Now add in the fact that it will be on the road, and that's magnified even further.
