Should Derek Jeter Call It Quits?

Should Derek Jeter Call It Quits?

It all happened so fast, Derek Jeter fractured his left ankle in the 12th inning of game 1 of the AL Championship Series. The New York Yankees went on to get swept by the Detroit Tigers ending their season and left fans all over the world wondering.

Then the speculation started. Can Jeter come back from such a devastating injury at such an old age? Is this the end for the greatest Yankee of recent memory?

At first, most people thought he would be back by mid-May, but new news came out that he will not be able to return until after the All-Star break. Now, more than ever, people are speculating over his health. Some are even asking if he should come back at all!

To those people I say, "Yes! Why wouldn't he?!" He had his best season since 2009, with a .316 batting average. He also hit 15 home runs and had 216 hits. That is the most he has had in one season since 1999. The argument that he is getting old really doesn’t hold, considering those stats. If there is one person in the game of baseball that could have a comeback season, it would be Jeter.

When he does finally come back, I cannot wait to see what he does. Jeter is one of the most iconic figures in the game of baseball. I think all baseball fans would enjoy seeing one more year of the legend that is, Derek Jeter.
