Outfield along with starting pitching is a very deep class with a ton of high end talent. This is a big difference from the other positions we have examined thus far such as short stop or third base which have extremely weak free agents to choose from.
If there is a team looking to add a big bat to it’s team that bat can surely be found in the outfield. There are guys like Cespedes, Heyward, Upton, Gordon, Parra all of whom are capable of helping turn a team into a championship contender. There are also plenty of speed or utility guys such as Rajai Davis, or Drew Stubbs, who can play big parts off the bench. These guys have plenty of speed and can play all of the outfield positions.
Another big plus for this crop of free agents is that unlike other positions there is some youth to be found here. Guys like Upton, Heyward, Parra, and Grossman are all under 30 years old. Outfield is likely the one position where teams can find a difference maker, and is the position where a ton of money is going to spent by teams this winter.
