Like the first base free agent class there is a lot of age here. However, there is certainly more depth at second base than first base.  You don’t have that one super star but you do have some solid starters such as Howie Kendrick, Ben Zobrist, and Daniel Murphy.  All three of these guys can be difference makers on a contending team, and Murphy just proved that he is not afraid of the spotlight as he went on one heck of a home run spree during the playoffs last October.  

You also have a lot of position flexibility with these guys as a lot of them can play multiple position which is going to make them highly desirable to other teams.   Zobrist can play just about any position on the field, and other such as Cabrera, Bonifacio can play both middle infield spots and a little bit of third base.  This flexibility is going to a keep a lot of these guys in the lineup even if they are struggling to hit, making this a fairly desirable free agent class.
