For most leagues this is the final week of the regular season. There is not chance that you would be picking up anyone if you have no possibility of making the playoffs so this is for owners in the hunt. If you are in need of a big waiver-wire pickup consider the names below.
Will Venable, Outfielder, San Diego Padres
Here is a guy that is owned in over 95 percent of leagues. He has hit two home runs in his past three games and was only a double shy of the cycle on Friday. The chance that someone in your league does not own him is low but it is worth taking a look, especially if you have something left to play for. He has hit 19 home runs on the year and has driven in 46 with a batting average of .272. He is a good baseball player that could help your team out a lot. Pick this guy up if he is open in any of your leagues.
Nate McLouth, Outfielder, Baltimore Orioles
Nate has had a pretty good season as far as offense is concerned. His batting average is the same as Venable’s but his power numbers and RBIs are a lot lower. This is another case of a guy who is owned in a large amount of leagues but you could get him. He has stolen 29 bases on the year so if you are looking for some swiped bags this is your guy. I mean after all his nickname is Mighty Mouse.
Alex Rodriguez, Third Basemen, New York Yankees
This guy is called A-Rod, you may have heard of him… Week 22 is a time when you need to make bold moves to try and put your team into the playoffs or just to simply add depth to your lineup. Why not take the chance with Rodriguez here? He still has a bit of pop left in his bat and he is always getting thrown at so his OBP is going to be pretty good. Make the jump for this guy who is only owned in about 60 percent of leagues. Put him on your team and hope he can catch fire and possibly lead your team to the playoffs.
