Every single year Major League Baseball is blessed with young and exciting talent. Some players work their tails off to make the club during spring training, while others are called up throughout the season. Most of the time the, “big name” prospects are very well known already, but you will occasionally see a guy like Evan Gattis come out of nowhere and prove his worth.
Below is a list of prospects who will be joining their major league affiliate soon.
Wil Myers Outfielder, Tampa Bay Rays
Maybe the most talked about prospect of 2013 is this guy right here. Last year at Triple-A Omaha, Myers batted .304 with 24 home runs and 79 RBIs. Many scouts believe he is one of those rare, five-tool players who could impact a ball club mightily. The main question for Myers is not how but when. It is very obvious that he has the skills to make the team, he just needs the opportunity now. Look for Myers to be playing for the Rays by All-Star break, if not sooner.
Trevor Bauer Starting Pitcher, Cleveland Indians
Bauer has had a very interesting career to this point. He was expected to be the next great pitcher in Arizona but a surprise three team trade sent him to the Indians in December. His pre-game pitching technique is very bizarre and if you haven’t seen it yet, check it out. This guy can chuck it with the best of them but some scouts believe he has some ego issues. That is neither here nor there as Bauer is a top notch prospect who should be called up soon.
Gary Brown Outfielder, San Francisco Giants
If you like watching speed, Brown is the guy for you. He had 33 stolen bases last year and has amazing range in the outfield. His swing is not completely there yet but if he can figure it out, you are looking at a future leadoff hitter for years to come. He is 24-years -old and is the number one prospect on this Giants team. If he isn’t called up by All-Star break, look for him to join the team when rosters expand.
Dylan Bundy Starting Pitcher, Baltimore Orioles
This 20-year-old has a big future ahead of him. As a senior in high school he had an unreal ERA of 0.25. In 2012 he pitched at single-A and double-A, while dropping a buttery 2.08 ERA. He should be pitching for the Orioles within a month. Look out for this guy for your fantasy team in the years to come because he will be around for awhile.
